Tips and Tricks for Live BlackJack

While playing live dealer blackjack, there are some strategies that you should keep in mind. These strategies are: surrender your hand, standing pat, take a hit, double down and splitting pairs. Remember not to place an insurance bet because odds always work in favor of the house and not the people.

# Surrender your hand: Most live dealer blackjack casinos offer this option. There are two variations – early and late surrender. In the early option, you surrender when the dealer hasn’t had a chance of checking for blackjack. In the late option, you surrender after he has checked for the blackjack. Both times, you are giving up your hand and you lose half of the initial bet. Surrender only when you have a hopeless hand.

# Stand pat: Stand pat when you think your hand is good enough and you can beat the dealer. So long as you don’t bust, stand with the two original cards, or during any time after you have taken a hit. Stand pat if you are dealt a nine or a ten. Wave horizontally above your cards to inform dealer you are standing.

# Take a hit: When your two cards add up to less than twenty one or you hope to reach twenty one or something near it by taking a card, you take a hit. If your total exceeds twenty one, you lose. You may hit any number of times till you reach twenty one or you bust. When you are taking a hit, most live dealer blackjack casinos will require a hand signal from you which may be seen by the hidden cameras overseeing all casino operations.

# Double down: You do this when you want to receive one more card and you double the initial bet. It is a great bet when your initial two cards total eleven, because you get the chance to increase your bet after seeing the dealers’ up card. On the flip side, you receive only one card.

# Splitting the Pair: In live dealer blackjack, you are allowed to bet an amount equal to the initial amount if you have been dealt a pair, and you inform the dealer that you’re splitting the pair. Then by taking hits you play both the hands till the card count satisfies you or you bust. You can even re-split if you get another card with the same value.

We hope these tips will help you with your chances at live dealer blackjack.
